Rumors about Travis Kelce’s career have been swirling since before he married Taylor Swift. After the Chiefs’ disappointing season last year, a lot of people thought Kelce would retire. Kelce is 36 years old, turning 37 during the upcoming season. In NFL terms, that’s a veteran. So, it all made sense. Retire to spend some time with his new wife.
That, of course, didn’t happen. Kelce signed a new contract with the Chiefs for the upcoming season and announced he’d be returning, at least for one year. His contract leaves open the possibility of playing for two more seasons.

And the TE is already preparing for the upcoming season. Kelce was recently photographed returning to training in Florida. He announced his decision to play another season during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this year, saying, “Let’s go! Making another run at it, baby, and the Chiefs are making moves, Pat.”
Back then, he made it clear he’s got Swift’s support. “We share the same love for what we do, and we’ve had this…desire,” said Kelce. “I’m still in love with this game,” he added.
Ironically, McAfee has given some details about the wedding at Madison Square Garden on July 3, which he attended. “The football world coming together with Hollywood and Nashville … It was the greatest night of all time,” McAfee said on the Monday, July 13, episode of his ESPN show.
This comes after confirmation from Page Six that Swift and Kelce have already expanded their family with a shared pet. The outlet reports the two have had a dog for “close to a year” and are “very happy” about “their shared pet.” The dog is reportedly a Samoyed breed.
On top of the new pup, Swift is the proud owner of three cats. She adopted Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson in 2011 and 2014, respectively, followed by Benjamin Button in 2019. And yes, the cats are named for exactly what you think: the Grey’s Anatomy character, the Law & Order: SVU character, and the main character in the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
But can we expect a baby to join the animals anytime soon? The Daily Mail recently reported that even though Swift has written songs about having a family and Travis previously told his brother Jason during their shared podcast, “I see it in our future, for sure,” the couple is reportedly “not sure if they’re going to have kids or not.”
“She has such a security situation,” an insider told the outlet. “It’s hard to raise a kid in her world.” Plus, their respective families “have concerns over security issues,” especially since people in their immediate circle have “had people show up to their door.”
It’s not a no, but it seems like they’re thinking about it. And we might not get an answer one way or another anytime soon. “She gets so many death threats. There’s people that the FBI knows about. There’s people on a watchlist. There are people that they can’t even find, they can’t track down.”
