STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Festa Italiana continued at Freedom Hill County Park in Sterling Heights despite hazardous air quality across southeast Michigan caused by smoke from Canadian wildfires.
Festivalgoers turned out for the annual celebration on Friday (July 17), enjoying live music, food vendors, and traditional Italian cuisine, even as officials urged residents to limit prolonged outdoor activity due to poor air quality.
The event features a variety of Italian food, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
Organizers have continued with the festival despite the smoky conditions, and the event is scheduled to run through Sunday.
Air quality concerns have prompted cancellations and schedule changes for some outdoor events across Metro Detroit, but Festa Italiana remained open as planned.
Visitors are encouraged to monitor air quality conditions and take precautions, including limiting time outdoors if they are sensitive to smoke.
