OCOEE, Fla. — After more than 30 years, the city of Ocoee said it will not be holding its annual Music Fest this fall.
The event grew out of Ocoee’s Founders Day and was meant to bring the community together through music and celebration.
This year, though, city officials said they’re choosing to pause the event because of “economic uncertainty.”
That’s likely a reference to the property tax reform referendum that will be on the ballot this November, which could lead local governments to take in less revenue, if it passes.
In its place, Ocoee intends to hold multiple smaller music events throughout the year.
In a statement, the city said, in part, “While this event has become a favorite community tradition for over 30 years, our priority is ensuring that city resources are managed wisely during these uncertain times.”
