Actor Steven Zahn may have Hollywood on speed dial, but his heart belongs to a cozy dining room in Midway, Kentucky.
And thanks to PEOPLE magazine’s recent Hometown Favorites list celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, the rest of the country now knows it, too.
PEOPLE asked more than four dozen celebrities to name their favorite spot in all 50 states — everything from iconic landmarks to beloved burger joints. Reese Witherspoon picked the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville while Terry Crews picked Michigan’s Halo Burger.
And representing the Bluegrass State is Zahn, a well-known character actor. And while he wasn’t born here, he has lived in Kentucky for two decades.
Zahn, who settled on a sprawling farm near Georgetown years ago, didn’t choose a flashy tourist attraction or a Hollywood‑approved hideaway for his America 250 People Magazine pick. He chose to highlight Holly Hill Inn, 426 North Winter St., Midway, Kentucky, an art‑filled, garden‑wrapped, restaurant tucked into the heart of Midway’s horse country.

Run by nine‑time James Beard semifinalist Chef Ouita Michel, Holly Hill Inn is the kind of place where multi‑course prix fixe menus celebrate Kentucky’s farmers, cocktails come with a story, and the bourbon library boasts more than 100 whiskeys.
In addition to contributing to PEOPLE with his Kentucky pick, Zahn has been busy giving his adopted state some extra love of its own. Known for films like “Reality Bites,” “Dallas Buyers Club,” the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” franchise, and recent turns in “Silo” and “The White Lotus,” he kept things close to home with “She Dances,” an new film he co‑produced and stars in alongside his real‑life daughter, Audrey Zahn.

Shot in Kentucky and boosted by the state’s film incentives, the project, which is loosely based on Zahn’s experience as the father of a dancer, earned a coveted spot at the Tribeca Film Festival. Ethan Hawke and Rosemarie DeWitt round out the cast.
