In the Celebrity edition of What’s in My Cart, stars reveal the everyday products they’re shopping—complemented by expert insights from our editors and analysts when it’s something we love too.
For Ashley Tisdale, self-care is at the center of creating a well-balanced life. And that’s exactly what her brand Being Frenshe aims to deliver, with calming candles to moisturizing haircare and more. The brand bills itself as a “community-based platform where wellness [doesn’t] have to be complicated, expensive, or inaccessible.” It’s an ethos that Ashley practices both professionally and personally. Getting there, however, took some time.
“I’m not sure if balance looks like what I once thought it did, because it’s impossible to be perfectly balanced in every aspect of your life at the same time,” Ashley told Good Housekeeping. “I don’t push myself to do that any longer.”
Now, in order to keep her days balanced, she makes it a point to give her full attention to one thing at a time. “If I’m with my kids, I’m one hundred percent with my kids. If I’m at work, my brain is in work mode. From a mental health perspective, I have learned that it can never be an afterthought—I have to make time for it—and I’ve learned to trust my intuition from the start,” she says.
Recently, I had the delight of speaking with the actress, mom of two, and founder about her daily wellness routine, along with her favorite products for practicing self-care.
From the time she wakes up, Ashley is very intentional with her day. “I like to wake up before the kids do, and I begin every day with a meditation,” she says. “I find that spending ten to twenty minutes in meditation helps me start the day feeling centered and ready for whatever surprises it might bring.” She says she likes to meditate with a candle burning— “Lately it’s the Being Frenshe Desert Rose Reset Candle.”

When it comes to her beauty routine, the actress prefers to keep things pared down. “I don’t do an elaborate skincare routine in the morning, but I do like to wash my face and put on sunscreen if I know I’m going to be outside,” she says. The same goes for makeup; instead of going full glam everyday, Ashley reaches for this tinted moisturizer for a natural, radiant glow. “I like that the formula is clean and foolproof to use,” she says.
The GH Institute Beauty & Personal Care Lab named it the best tinted moisturizer for light coverage, noting that testers loved its light feel on skin and how it “evens tone and blurs imperfections.”
“This might sound funny, but I really believe in investing in the everyday things you don’t think much about,” Ashley tells Good Housekeeping. “It’s such a little thing but it’s a nice way to treat yourself to something that feels good! And you can’t go wrong with an exfoliating body cloth like Salux. Use it once and your skin feels like you’ve been reborn.”
Ashley is just like us when it comes to fighting the urge to shop. She says that particularly applies to Essie nail polishes. She loves the brand because “their colors are great, so it’s hard for me to run into Ulta without walking out with a new color or two.”
Fragrance isn’t just for smelling good, it can also boost your mood. And that’s exactly how Ashley uses this roll-on. “This summer, I’m going overseas and I don’t enjoy flying,” she says. “So I’m taking our Glow On Perfume Oil. It’s small enough to fit in my purse, and taking a deep breath in of the scent helps me stay calm.”

Winding down from a long day should be just as intentional as its start, according to Ashley. “I usually end my day in the water, whether it’s a quick rinse in the shower or a long bath,” she says. “It helps me shift into relaxation mode and symbolically leave the day behind.”
Her nightly ritual also includes a facial massage. “I’ll use sculpting tools to release tension, especially along my jawline,” she says.
The device here isn’t the exact one Ashley uses, but it’s highly recommended by our GH Beauty Lab. It was a top scorer in Lab tests, firming skin with 7.2% improvement.
