What he observed across every department, from ticket sales to merchandise to customer relations, was a consistent commitment to a fans-first culture that extended inward to the staff as well. That internal care became clearest to him during a game at Yankee Stadium, a venue that carried significant personal weight. Skinner’s father had been a lifelong Yankees fan who never made it to a game at the new stadium before passing away from cancer. The Bananas season runs from February through September, which means Skinner spends the off-season in schools, speaking at educational conferences, and doing student assemblies. He has been presenting at conferences since 2015, covering topics like building school culture and climate, growth mindset, and the idea that a small shift in language, like replacing “I can’t” with “not yet,” can change a student’s trajectory. He brings the same energy from banana ball into those school visits, including the turntables.

Those are two very different groups and I know which one I would much rather spend my time with.”
