One of our very favorite albums of 2025 was Burnover, a big breakthrough for the Burlington, Vermont indie rock rambler Greg Freeman. It’s a work of deeply felt country-rock choogle that earned Magnolia Electric Co. comparisons, and it earned Freeman a whole lot of momentum. Today, Freeman announces All Set The Bone, his first album as a full-time musician.
This fall, Greg Freeman will release All Set The Bone, the new album that he recorded with John Congleton, a producer who once again shows magnificent taste in collaborators. In a press release, Freeman says, “I had this epiphany moment where I understood what the next record should be, which surprised me because I thought it would take a lot longer to have the influences or inspiration required to undertake writing a new album.”
While writing the songs on All Set The Bone, Freeman left Vermont to stay at an isolated and unidentified spot in the Southwest while dealing with what he calls a “perfect tsunami” of “inhuman events.” He and Congleton recorded it at a Hollywood studio. The album has contributions from longtime collaborators Garrett Linck and Sam Atallah, as well as Florry’s Joey Sullivan and members of the Rockin’ Worms.
Lead single “Indu” is a bright, smeary chug with a bit of psychedelic garage swagger. The lyrics are straight-up romantic poetry: “All I want to do is look at you, lookin’ at me with the moonlight in your eyes.” In the months ahead, Freeman will tour on both sides of the Atlantic, playing shows with people like Wendy Eisenberg, Touch Girl Apple Blossom, and Robber Robber. Below, check out “Indu,” the All Set The Bone tracklist, and Freeman’s tour dates.
