A new feature-length documentary covering the life and career of Lily Allen is set to launch on Prime Video in 2027, following the success of her 2025 album, West End Girl.
The retrospective film will trace the singer’s remarkable journey, from her early days as the “Queen of MySpace” during her ascent to fame, through to her current life and professional work.
Directed by Mat Whitecross, the documentary will incorporate interviews with individuals close to the 41-year-old artist.
Allen, daughter of actor and comedian Keith Allen, initially signed with London Records in 2002 after recording a demo as a teenager, though she departed without releasing any material.
Her breakthrough came after signing with Regal Recordings in 2005 and utilising MySpace to share her demos, quickly garnering thousands of listeners. Her debut album, Alright, Still, released in July 2006, featured the chart-topping single ‘Smile’.
She followed this up with It’s Not Me, It’s You (2008), Sheezus (2014), and No Shame (2018).
The star also branched out into acting and made her West End debut in the play, 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2021.
Allen is the mother of daughters Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 12, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper, whom she divorced in 2018.
She married Stranger Things actor David Harbour in September 2020 after a year of dating.
They separated in 2025 and Allen’s album West End Girl details the breakdown of their relationship and his alleged infidelity.
Allen told Elle UK of the support from her daughters’ friends’ parents, who witnessed her difficult period.
“They were there when I was in a really tough spot – they could see how drawn I was and how withdrawn I became and how skinny I got and how sad I was,” she recounted. “They’d come and pick up their kids from play dates and I wouldn’t come downstairs. I’d be in my bedroom crying.”
Harbour previously said the contents of the record “wasn’t my experience”.
Speaking to Variety, he said: “It was weird. I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.”
“I can’t really say that much more because it’s my private life.”
