According to court documents obtained by People, Vivienne’s seeking to change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie due to “personal” reasons. Her hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 2.
“If people knew the whole truth, they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them,” a source close to Jolie told the outlet. “The fact they aren’t speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency.”
The source continued, “Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry. She just wants everyone to heal.”
However, a source close to Pitt told People, “It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent.”
Pitt has not publicly addressed his and Jolie’s kids’ name change requests, but in June 2026, a source told HeatWorld that he’s “absolutely crushed” by the situation.
“Brad is absolutely crushed that the kids are one-by-one disowning him formally,” the insider said, “it’s the definition of soul destroying and almost impossible for him to comprehend.”
A separate source previously told Us Weekly that Pitt desperately wants a close relationship with his kids. “He feels most hurt out of everything that happened with Angie that his children don’t want a public association with his last name,” they explained in May 2026. “It’s been very difficult.”
The insider added that Pitt “still does hope and keeps the door open to eventual reconciliation, hopefully with all of them, but it is their decision. He has no power and he can’t force them.”
