Lucia, the Afro-Caribbean restaurant in Los Angeles from restaurateur Sam Jordan and chef Cleophus “Ophus” Hethington, is introducing two weekly programs that combine live entertainment with dining.
The first, “Live at Lucia,” takes place every Wednesday evening and features live performances during dinner service. The series debuted with vocalist and pianist Matthew Grant, who performs in the restaurant’s dining room while guests enjoy dinner and cocktails.
The restaurant’s menu includes dishes such as Wagyu beef patties with mango calypso, jerk lamb shank served with whipped sweet potato, brown butter, goat cheese and salsa criolla, and “Plantain Expressions,” featuring maduros, plantain mole and plantain chips.
A second weekly series, “Sobremesa,” takes place on Thursdays. The event features salsa, bachata and merengue music and is designed to encourage guests to remain after dinner for an evening of music and socializing.
During Sobremesa, diners may order from Lucia’s regular à la carte menu or choose a $50 prix fixe dinner that includes an entrée, side dish and a Mojito Martini. Entrée options include a Burger Cubano Sando, tagliatelle with mushroom picadillo and a tamarind Caesar salad. Guests may choose from a classic, passionfruit or tropical fruit blend Mojito Martini.
