Rajinikanth’s reported autobiography could be headed to the big screen, adding fresh buzz around the story of an actor whose rise from a bus conductor in Bengaluru to one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars has inspired fans for decades. While there is no official confirmation yet, reports suggest a feature film adaptation is being discussed.
The autobiography is already said to be in the works and is expected to cover several important phases of Rajinikanth‘s life. Reports say it will offer an in-depth account of his personal journey, professional achievements, standout moments and the struggles he overcame along the way.
According to a report by Movies Singapore, the upcoming book could also be adapted into a feature film. Rajinikanth has reportedly spoken to people close to him about the possibility of turning the autobiography into a film, though an official announcement is still awaited.
What Soundarya Rajinikanth said
Earlier, Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya had confirmed that the actor was working on his autobiography. Speaking to Galatta, she said, “For our dear Thalaiva, the man who paved his own way through hard work, Rajini sir has already begun writing his life history, beginning from his struggles as a bus conductor in Bengaluru to becoming a superstar in Kollywood.”
She described the book as a complete account of his life and career. “This autobiography will give insight into his journey and the effort he has put in for every single role and in his life…it will be a global sensation,” she said.
From bus conductor to superstar
More than five decades ago, Rajinikanth worked as a bus conductor in Bengaluru. He later became one of India’s biggest stars with a global fan following, and has worked across the Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada film industries. He has also received some of the country’s highest civilian honours, including the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming films
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s next major release is Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15. He also has Ashwath Marimuthu’s Dharman in the pipeline.
