Christina Legge spent 20 years in the legal sector before starting over to pursue a passion for hair

A Liverpool entrepreneur who enjoyed a 20 year career at some the UK’s top law firms left it all behind follow her passion for hair and she hasn’t looked back since. Christina Legge, 40, who entered the legal world straight from school at 16, made an “unusual” side step to start her own luxury wig business in 2018.
Fast forward to today and Celebrity Hair UK has provided wigs for celebrities and shows including Katie Price, the Barbie film premiere, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Married at First Sight.
For Christina, who has been experimenting with her hair since she was a teenage, wigs gave her a way to play with different styles while protecting her natural afro hair. Shopping for her own wigs overseas, she noticed a “gap in the market” for quality products in the UK.

Christina, originally from Fairfield, said: “A passion for hair had always been there in the background. Starting from scratch in my thirties was very scary – I had to start right at the bottom. It was a big decision so I knew whatever avenue I went down I had to be passionate about it”.
Anticipating demand, the mum of three launched her wig business at home in Staffordshire and within three months had made the same as her yearly legal salary.
Christina said: “I have the customer in mind because I was the customer. People always used to ask me where I got my hair from. Anything I was going set my mind to I knew it would a success, I knew so much about hair.
“My family said to me it’s all you ever talk about. I knew there were too many people who could be helped by this not to give it a go.”

While specialising in synthetic and human hair blends, Christina also offers custom 100% human hair wigs which can be cut and styled on request. She samples and quality checks every unit and all wigs have adjustable cap sizes for comfort.
She will soon launch a collection in collaboration with Katie Price, who she described as “down to earth and passionate”, with the star having previously sported one of the brand’s sleek jet-black wigs.
Other clients include red carpet and music video stylists.
‘Beginner-friendly’ wigs are also available with clients including those experiencing hair loss for medical reasons such as cancer treatments and alopecia.
Christina, who has recently worked with Manchester vocalist Michelle Platnum following her breast cancer diagnosis, hopes she can create a safe space and “take away the feeling of [wigs] being something alien.”
She said: “There’s an old school taboo around wigs. People utilise wigs for all different reasons. For many people it is just a fashion accessory.

“I always get feedback from people saying how empowering the service is, especially when they are going through medical conditions. I’ll have people coming in who say ‘do you have any celebrities wearing this one?’ They think ‘oh a celeb has worn that so I can too”.
Christina said: “The job satisfaction in law just wasn’t the same. I get people saying ‘I haven’t left the house until [the wig] arrived and now I can’. I love putting that smile on people’s faces”.
