Christmas in the Round is coming to Somerset Alliance Church, 708 Stoystown Road, Somerset, at 7 p.m. Dec. 21.
The event, produced by Thrive Productions Group and World Help, will feature national touring artists Mark Schultz, Aaron Shust, Jon Micah Sumrall of Kutless and Todd Tilghman, who was the season 18 winner of The Voice.
“Thrive Productions contacted us asking to host their Christmas concert writers round, and we were happy to do so as a way to share joy, hope, and the message of the Christmas season with our community,” said Ashleigh Weaver, director of worship and young adult ministries at Somerset Alliance Church, in an email. “Through music, storytelling, and worship, we desire for lives to be touched through the gift of music that expresses the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus.”

The artists
Mark Schultz has sold 2 million records and has had 10 No. 1 singles, a Dove Award, as well as multiple nominations in the last 18 years. Some of his hits include “I Am,” “He’s My Son,” “Letters From War” and “Back In His Arms Again.”
Aaron Shust’s success with “My Savior My God” won the 2007 New Artist, Songwriter and Song of the Year. Later, as he grappled with a Down syndrome diagnosis for one son and waged a war with chronic illness for two, he continued to declare “My Hope is in You,” a song which spent 14 weeks at No. 1, and “Ever Be,” which debuted at No. 3 on the NCA chart. Shust’s 2014 Christmas Album “Unto Us” was recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

Jon Micah Sumrall is the lead singer for the Christian band Kutless. With more than 3 million albums sold, two gold records and 12 No. 1 radio hits such as “What Faith Can Do,” “Strong Tower,” “Treason” and “Run,” Kutless has been a staple artist in Christian rock and CCM since 1999.
“For our church, this isn’t just a concert, it’s an invitation for Christians to gather as a family of faith, celebrate God’s love, and to experience the peace and unity this season brings,” Weaver said.

Somerset Alliance Church Sunday morning services are at 10:15 a.m. The Advent series starts Nov. 30 and will conclude with a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24. Through the Advent series, the membership will be walking through the Christmas story and looking at how Jesus didn’t have a “Hallmark style” Christmas family. It will explore the stories of five biblical Christmas characters that show how Jesus not only came from broken people but for broken people, Weaver said.
