Kacey Musgraves has canceled three dates from her Middle of Nowhere tour, which was set to begin on August 20.
Musgraves, 37, nixed three concerns from her upcoming tour, including its intended kick-off show on August 20 in Chicago. An August 29 show in Boston and a September 2 show in Brooklyn have also been canceled. A fan of the country music star shared a screenshot on Reddit that showed an email announcing the cancellation of the August 29 show at Boston’s TD Garden, despite there being no official announcement of the canceled dates from the Grammy-winner herself.
Musgraves did not officially announce that she was cancelling the dates, later prompting a representative to tell TMZ that the changes were made as “strictly a scheduling decision and not related to any personal or medical issue.”
The three cancelled tour dates were all additional shows added to the original schedule, which the singer released in April. Musgraves will still perform at the initial dates in each city: August 21 in Chicago; August 28 in Boston and August 31 and September 1 in New York City.
While the now-canceled New York show was to be held in Brooklyn, both remaining dates are set for Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden.
The Middle of Nowhere tour is set to take Musgraves across the United States, beginning in Chicago on August 21 and ending in Seattle on October 27. In January 2027, the singer will head out on an Australian tour before she brings her live show to Europe in February.
“Three dates canceled is unfortunate, but glad it’s not a health-related reason,” wrote one fan on X in response to the news that Musgraves’ changes were schedule-related and not the result of health issues.
“Wishing Kacey and the team all the best — fans will be looking forward to the next shows,” added another.
“Kacey Musgraves has started cancelling shows due to low ticket sales. Looks like my MSG date is safe for now, but it’s far from sold out so who knows. She’s getting roasted in her own subreddit, but I can understand why she’d bet on herself,” reads one post on X.
Others echoed the sentiment, wondering if Musgraves had fallen victim to “blue dot fever,” a reference to the color of an open, unsold seat on ticketing platforms like Ticketmaster.
Announced opening acts for the Middle of Nowhere tour include Midland, Flatland Cavalry, Carter Faith, Estevie, Charles Wesley Godwin, William Beckmann, Gabriella Rose and The Brudi Brothers.
