Duchess Meghan is no stranger to a reality series. The royal, who spent her early days as a briefcase model on Deal or No Deal, filmed a guest cameo on MasterChef Australia this past April, which was finally aired to the world just last night.
To commemorate the premiere, the official MasterChef Australia Instagram account posted behind-the-scenes video clips, which Meghan reposted to her own Instagram Story. “Join us on set with Meghan 🎥,” the caption read.
The clips see the Duchess of Sussex in one of her favorite uniforms—an all-black outfit—which consisted of a silky button-up top tucked into a matching pencil skirt with a slit up the side, complete with a pair of complementary pumps.
Throughout the video, Meghan tours the set, hugs the competitors, and interacts with her fellow hosts and judges: Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli.
But perhaps the best part came during the middle of the actual episode, when Meghan receive a surprise video call from her husband, Prince Harry. “What’s going on? Have I interrupted something important?” the Duke of Sussex joked. “Hi, my love! My husband’s here,” Meghan said as she panned the phone to the rest of the room.
“Well, we are actually in the middle of tasting all the dishes,” Meghan explains to her beau. “We have four incredible cooks here. It’s amazing, they’re so talented. We wish you were here.” She then turns to her fellow judges to say: “He’s in Canberra right now with the veterans.”
Back in April, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first journey to Australia since 2018, where Meghan not only filmed her MasterChef episode, but the pair also made visits to the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum, and more.
Of course, this wasn’t Meghan’s first foray into the world of cooking shows. Back in 2016, she guest-starred on an episode of Chopped Junior for the Food Network. Not to mention, just last year, she showed off her culinary skills on her own Netflix reality series, With Love, Meghan (which recently got nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award).
And as Meghan too continues to grow the food offerings through her lifestyle brand, As Ever, it’s clear that she’s got a knack for it.
