July 28 (UPI) — Paramount Pictures is teasing the new film Children of Blood and Bone.
The studio shared a trailer for the movie Tuesday featuring Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris and Amandla Stenberg.
Children of Blood and Bone is a fantasy film based on the Tomi Adeyemi novel. The book takes place in Orïsha, a fictional world where non-magic users, known as kosidán, oppress the maji, known as divîners.
Mbedu stars as Zélie, a young divîner who goes on “a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people,” according to an official description. She is joined by her brother, Tzain (Tosin Cole), and the daughter of King Saran (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Princess Amari (Amandla Stenberg).
Other cast members include Damson Idris as Prince Inan, Cynthia Erivo as Admiral Kaea, Lashana Lynch as Jumoke, Regina King as Queen Nehanda, Idris Elba as Lekan and Viola Davis as Mama Agba.

Adeyemi distanced herself from the project in a series of since-deleted posts on TikTok earlier this month, saying she will no longer promote “the adaptation of my work” and will not see the film.
