With the 2026 Coachella starting today on April 10 (and going on til Sunday, April 19), many have noticed the vibes have changed completely. While Coachella today is all about the influencers and DIY-ing the looks to see who wore it best, it was a whole different ballgame 10 years ago, during the iconic 2016 Coachella.
Let’s take you back a bit: the 2016 Coachella was all about wearing something that made you feel like a boho goddess, hanging out with your pals, and excitedly seeing celebrities every time you turned your head because it was such a magical, musical experience. Not only have the vibes changed a bit, so have the main musicians.
The 2016 Coachella sets on Fridays were reserved for LCD Soundsystem, Ellie Goulding, M83, G-Eazy, Sufjan Stevens, and more. Then, the 2016 Saturdays were for Guns N’ Roses, Ice Cube, Zedd, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Halsey, and James Bay (and it’s crazy to look back and see SZA was on the 6th row!) And for the Sundays, the stars of the stage were Calvin Harris, Sia, The 1975, Flume, and the Chainsmokers, to name a few.
As a new year of Coachella begins, let’s look back on what it used to be in 2016!
