Over the course of the past twenty-six years, Discogs has served music lovers and media collectors as a mecca marketplace for collecting and sourcing records, CDs, and cassettes. The platform has historically fallen more in line with Last.fm and Rate Your Music as opposed to Facebook and Instagram, but this niche has developed a loyal fanbase of audiophiles and fanatics who enjoy expressing their passion within the community. As 2025 came to a close, Discogs also recently experienced the highest number of items ever added to user collections since its start.

As of February 9th, 2026, Discogs is branching out with the My Discography series. Five episodes are set to premiere on the company’s YouTube channel, showcasing vinyl collectors and their respective collections. Each episode will capture the raw relationship of the subject to their own music, history, culture, and community in a myriad of ways. The series stands to showcase the diversity both within the record-collecting community and the platform’s user base overall, highlighting stories filled with memories and identity.

As Discogs explains, “Each collector offers a different perspective, but what links them is care and intent. We’re proud to provide a home for those stories, and to recognize the people who make this ecosystem what it is and, ultimately, what Discogs becomes.” Over the course of the series, audiences will get a glimpse into the collections of DJs James Inge, Brittany Benton, and Nicki Ricci, as well as record store owner Annisa Gooden and tattoo artist John Haywood.

In an era that’s become decreasingly focused on tangible ownership of goods, the relationship between a music lover and their vinyl will always be sacred. Discogs has become a vessel for storytelling and connection in the age of streaming, and by giving collectors a voice to express how their collections have shaped them, it offers a rare opportunity to bring our values back to the physicality of ownership and curation. The first episode spotlighting James Inge can be found here on the Discogs YouTube channel.
