A new Madonna album? Here's what we know so far

The Queen of the Dance Floor has returned.

Or, at least she will next year when Madonna releases her first new studio album in seven years.

The as-yet-untitled release marks a couple of homecomings for the bestselling female artist of all time.

After a nearly 20-year separation, Madonna is back on Warner Records, which released her string of smash albums from her 1983 self-titled debut through 2008’s “Hard Candy.” As well, she’s reunited with producer/songwriter DJ Stuart Price, who produced much of her “Confessions on a Dance Floor” album in 2005.

“I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while perhaps provoking a few needed conversations,” Madonna, 67, said in announcing her return to her home label.

Madonna will revisit her dance roots on new album

Madonna’s upcoming release is expected to be a sequel to the electropop “COADF,” which spawned the ABBA-sampling “Hung Up,” a No. 1 hit on the Billboard dance charts, as well as the techno-leaning “Get Together” and “Sorry,” which boasted several remixes from Paul Oakenfold and the Pet Shop Boys. Another remix of the song from Canadian DJ Blond:Ish hit the Billboard dance/electronic chart in 2023.

Madonna’s last studio release, “Madame X,” arrived in 2019. The concept album dabbled in Latin and world music sounds and prompted her tour of smaller venues that drew criticism from fans both for a lack of earlier hits injected into the show and late start times.
