Netflix has won a bidding war for a drama series starring Adam Driver that will follow a tense hostage standoff.
The streamer has given a straight-to-series order for Rabbit, Rabbit, which comes from creator Peter Craig (Dope Thief, The Batman) and independent studio MRC. Emmy winner Philip Barantini of Adolescence is set to direct. Driver will also be an executive producer.

The logline for Rabbit, Rabbit reads, “When an escaped convict is cornered by law enforcement at a truck stop, he takes hostages in an effort to bargain for his freedom. But the standoff soon escalates into an unmanageable social experiment with his captives, as well as an emotional poker match with a veteran FBI crisis negotiator trained in ‘tactical empathy.’”
Netflix isn’t saying at the moment which role Driver will play in the series.
Rabbit, Rabbit is the second series Driver has signed onto this year. He’s also set to star opposite Jessica Chastain in the art-wold drama The Dealer at Apple TV. The Oscar and Emmy nominee is coming off Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother.
Craig, who has a first-look deal at MRC, will serve as showrunner on the series and executive produce via his Night Owl company. Also exec producing are Barantini and Samantha Beddoe via their It’s All Made Up Productions, Driver and Night Owl’s Bryan Unkeless.
