Rajasthan Royals (RR) are making plenty of changes in their backroom staff following a below-par IPL 2025 season. The Sanju Samson-led side failed to make it to the second round of the season. Few months after the end of the season, Rahul Dravid quit RR. Soon, RR’s CEO Jake Lush McCrum also exited the franchise. Recently, RR parted ways with fielding coach Dishant Yagnik. RR have now reportedly paerted ways with another coach.
Cricbuzz has reported that RR have ended their contract with bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule. The former India spinner joined RR before IPL 2025. He left his job at the BCCI Centre of Excellence to join RR. His stint has come to end end after just one season.
While Bahuule wasn’t a full-time coach of Team India, he did have stint with the national team during Dravid’s tenure. He joined RR before the start of IPL 2025. Shane Bond and Vikram Rathour are likely to continue as RR’s bowling and batting coach, respectively.
Kumar Sangakkara, who joined RR before IPL 2021, is likely to return as the head coach. He worked with Dravid in IPL 2025.
Dravid’s stint as RR head coach
Dravid first joined RR as a player in IPL 2011. He played for RR till 2013. The India legend joined RR’s backroom staff after his retirement and coached them till 2015. Dravid couldn’t coach an IPL team till 2024 as he was associated with BCCI.
Dravid was appointed Team India’s head coach following the 2021 T20 World Cup. His first stint with the team ended after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Dravid rejoined the team for another stint and coached them to a title win in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
He returned to IPL as RR’s head coach, but only had a one-season stint with them. As per RR, they offered him a broader position following a structural review but he declined it.
