After teaming up with Sony Music Publishing to acquire Miranda Lambert catalog, Domain Capital closes $768M entertainment fund

Domain Capital Group has closed $768 million in equity commitments for its second entertainment fund.

The Atlanta-based private investment management firm said Domain Entertainment Fund II focuses on investments in film libraries, television participation and music catalogs, with additional allocations for literary works, theatrical productions and sports.

Domain said that it has, to date, “managed total capital commitments of $2.3 billion in entertainment assets”.

The firm added that Fund II includes investments with notable partners including Paramount Pictures and Sony Music Publishing, and features titles and artists including Sonic 3, Friends, The Matrix Trilogy, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett.

The mention of Lambert points to Domain’s deepening partnership with Sony Music Publishing Nashville.

In January this year, SMP Nashville and Domain teamed up to acquire Miranda Lambert’s complete back catalog of songs, alongside a go-forward deal covering future works.

Lambert’s catalog includes No.1 hits such as White Liar, Bluebird and Over You, and she has also penned songs for artists including Morgan Wallen, Ella Langley, Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson.

Domain’s music portfolio also includes the Sea Gayle Music catalog, acquired by the firm in 2020. Sea Gayle, the Nashville publisher founded in 1999 by Chris DuBois, Brad Paisley and Frank Rogers, is home to catalogs by Paisley, Chris Stapleton, Bobby Pinson and Lee Thomas Miller, among others.

In October 2025, SMP Nashville launched a global administration partnership with Sea Gayle and Domain.

Domain and SMP’s first tie-up came in May 2022, when the two parties acquired a career-spanning catalog from hit songwriter Ashley Gorley — a deal that MBW understands carried a price tag in the region of $40 million. Gorley has written 59 No.1 singles on US charts, with songs released by artists including Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton.

Domain also acquired the master recording and publishing catalog of Iggy Azalea in 2022 in a deal reported to be worth eight figures.

Fund II closed above its predecessor: Domain’s first entertainment fund, which closed in November 2022, secured more than $700 million in commitments.

The firm also previously deployed an $830 million separate account launched in 2012 that focused primarily on film and television assets.

“With this fund, we aim to build a diversified portfolio of high-quality assets that generate cash yield and preserve our investors’ capital under different market conditions.”

Commenting on the latest fund, Pete Chiappetta, Managing Director of Domain, said: “The entertainment industry continues to experience dynamic growth driven by an evolving distribution landscape and global demand for content.

“With this fund, we aim to build a diversified portfolio of high-quality assets that generate cash yield and preserve our investors’ capital under different market conditions.”

He added: “We believe in the long-term value of these assets, the growth of the industry aided by this age of digital content and the ease of access created by streaming platforms and faster mobile devices.”

Domain manages entertainment investments for a range of institutional investors, including corporate and public pensions, insurance companies, university endowments, multifamily offices and wealth management firms.

The firm says its investment strategy emphasizes cash-on-cash returns with low correlation to broader market trends.
