*Birmingham, Alabama native and GRAMMY-nominated artist Alvin Garrett has released his fifth studio album, “Talk To Her Like This,” now available across all major streaming platforms. The 10-track project, executive produced by Garrett, arrives as a deeply personal statement rooted in Southern soul and emotional intelligence.

A celebrated songwriter with credits spanning artists such as Joe, Kelly Rowland, Fantasia, and Ruben Studdard, Garrett shifts focus inward on this project. Rather than writing for others, he channels more than two decades of experience into a body of work that examines love, vulnerability, and the power of intentional communication between partners.

Per the news release, the album covers a wide emotional range, moving through themes of passion, commitment, reassurance, distance, and reconciliation. Garrett has described the project as a vocal journal — a space where men and women alike can find language for the feelings that often go unspoken in relationships.

“Talk To Her Like This” follows the momentum of his Billboard-charting single “Roll Slide Roll,” which has continued its climb up the R&B charts. The release builds on a strong recent run for Garrett, whose single “Til I Get Back To You” reached number 15 on the Billboard R&B charts in 2023 and whose songwriting earned a Stellar Award nomination for “Song of the Year” for gospel artist Micah Lee’s “Clap My Way.”

Garrett spoke candidly about the headspace surrounding this release. “Throughout my career, I’ve always found myself experiencing a healthy mixture of excitement and anxiety when releasing new music,” he said.

“This time around, I feel a sense of peace. I truly believe that this project, and the message, will inspire people in a way R&B music has done for ages. To me, R&B music has always been a surrogate voice for our deeply human experiences. I just hope that Talk To Her Like This becomes the project that people gravitate to when they need a little assistance telling someone how much they love them,” he added.

Beyond music, Garrett received the Presidential Medal of Honor from President Joe Biden in 2024 in recognition of his work through The Write Life, a songwriting therapy program serving at-risk and justice-involved youth in partnership with nonprofit The Dannon Project.
