Fans of classic country will be delighted to hear that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is back with brand-new music for the first time in over a decade. The iconic group — best known for their Platinum smash “Fishin’ in the Dark” — just announced their upcoming EP Night After Night, out October 24, 2025.
Produced by Grammy-winning dobro master Jerry Douglas, the five-song project marks the band’s first all-new release since 2009’s Speed of Life. The title track is already available to stream, showcasing a Tom Petty-esque sound that frontman Jeff Hanna says was love at first listen.
“My friend, Buddy Miller, sent me the tune ‘Night After Night,’ written by two of my favorites: Paul Kennerley and Daniel Tashian,” Hanna said. “The band’s response was an immediate ‘Oh, hell yes!’ It’s right in our wheelhouse, and it’s pretty easy to tell what a blast we had playing and singing it.”

A Family Affair
Recorded at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, the EP also features Hanna’s wife, celebrated songwriter Matraca Berg, and their son and bandmate Jaime Hanna, who takes lead vocals on two tracks. Fans can expect fresh originals like “Nashville Skyline” alongside cuts that highlight the group’s signature harmony blend and rootsy instrumentation.

Limited Vinyl + Farewell Tour
Collectors will want to act fast — vinyl editions of Night After Night will be extremely limited, pressed with music on one side and a special etching on the other. CDs and digital pre-saves are also available through the band’s official store.
The release comes as the band continues their All the Good Times: The Farewell Tour, with dates across the U.S. and Canada, plus a stop at San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival on October 3. They’ll also take the stage at the Grand Ole Opry on October 28 before joining the Outlaw Country Cruise in March 2026.
