This artist went viral on social media by creating walls that look like ancient stone structures. But the process behind these works is far more impressive than it seems. Ramon Martínez Bayres, who lives in Tarragona, Spain, doesn’t use real stones. He applies a mixture of cement or concrete and, while it’s still fresh, sculpts everything by hand. Using spatulas, he cuts, shapes, and defines each “stone,” even adding fake grout. To achieve a natural texture, he uses silicone molds and, after everything hardens, applies pigments to lighten or darken the stones. The result is so realistic it looks centuries old.
