King Charles needs to work on a new strategy as the Royal family faces growing pressure over the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor scandal.
According to a royal expert, the monarchy can no longer depend on its old way of handling crises as public expectations have changed.
Andrew was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office and was later released while investigations continue.
Speaking with GB News, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said the palace is now “on the back foot” because it cannot predict what might happen next.
“Firstly, the two quotes that the royals always used to have in Queen Elizabeth’s time, ‘Keep calm and carry on’, which is what, essentially, they’ve got to do in the coming months,” he said.
“But the other thing is, ‘Never explain, never complain,’” he said. “That is dead. But equally, it’s early days. You see, the thing is, people want instant responses.
“King Charles should apologise… Always issue a statement, etc.”
He further pointed out that even though Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton already released statements, he stressed that the situation is still unstable and unlikely to settle down anytime soon.
“We’ve had two statements, and he’s done his best. Of course, it hasn’t quietened the unrest. It’s a real crisis, no question about it.”
