Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was said to be feeling “humiliated and angry” as he counts his last few remaining days at Royal Lodge. The disgraced former Duke of York has agreed to leave his home of more than 20 years in Windsor, after he was officially stripped of his HRH style and his prince title by his brother, the King, due to his ongoing links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Earlier this week, Andrew was spotted for the first time since the bombshell news riding around the Windsor estate. The former prince is reportedly expected to move into one of the King’s private homes within the Sandringham estate in the new year.
Now a royal commentator has weighed in on Andrew’s last moments in his Windsor home.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told The Mirror: “I’m sure he’s feeling humiliated and, by all accounts, angry. You have to remember that he has consistently protested his innocence. Therefore, he feels wronged.
“But the reality is he now has just a few weeks left before he has to leave Royal Lodge, which has been his home for more than 20 years.”
Ms Bond said that Andrew will have a difficult time adjusting to the new normal without the privileges of royal life.
She said: “I don’t think Andrew is the sort of person who will ever feel humble,” she said.
“That’s not in his nature,” she added.
“I think he will expect to have staff in his new home, as I don’t imagine he has the first idea about how to cook, clean or shop.”
She also added that the only thing left for Andrew to do to “show some remorse” could be to cooperate with the US Congress regarding their Epstein probe.
Andrew was criticised this week by US lawmakers for his “silence” amid their probe into Epstein.
Members of a US congressional committee – the House Oversight Committee – had requested a “transcribed interview” with the former prince in connection with his “long-standing friendship” with the late financier, who took his own life in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.
But after saying they had not heard from him by November 20, Democrats Robert Garcia and Suhas Subramanyam accused Andrew of hiding.
