New details have emerged about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s isolated life after he was stripped of his royal titles.
Bombshell new claims have revealed Mr Mountbatten-Windsor is living an increasingly lonely and reclusive existence, with a royal author suggesting even close family members have distanced themselves from the former prince.
During an interview in London this week, Dr Andrew Lownie said the disgraced former royal spends much of his time being a “pathetic couch potato” at his home at Marsh Farm on Sandringham Estate, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The claims appear in Dr Lownie’s 2025 book The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which includes explosive details about Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s life since he was forced out of royal duties and stripped of his honours and titles by his brother King Charles III.
The royal family revoked the Former Duke of York’s titles due to his long-standing and scandalous association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of sexual abuse.
Now, the 67-year-old’s new normal as a recluse is a far cry from the family-focused lifestyle he once lived, with Dr Lownie saying the former prince had been “disowned” by those closest to him, including his two daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and his brother.
“He’s doing what he’s always really done which is watch TV and sit on the sofa in his dressing gown, but he’s not really engaging,” Dr Lownie said.
“He used to go riding, he used to go shooting parties, he used to see his family but I think the really sad thing is his family seem to have disowned him”.
According to Dr Lownie, a tell-tale sign pointing to the family’s “fractured” relations was when it became apparent the former Duke of York only learnt of Princess Eugenie’s pregnancy via his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.
“I think it’s a really interesting story because she (Eugenie) didn’t tell her father directly, he learnt from Sarah Ferguson and this suggests that the family relations are much more fractured than people realise,” Dr Lownie added.
“It must be a very poignant moment, this is a new addition to the family and yet the family are completely broken up.
“But if we remember it was actually Andrew’s first grandchild that was born when he was hiding in Balmoral to avoid a [civil] summons from Virginia Giuffre and he didn’t come down to see his grandchild for some time”.
It comes after other shocking revelations, also detailed in Lownie’s book, of despicable behaviour emerged involving the shocking abuse of a dog and his creepy actions towards a flight attendant.
Outlined in the updated edition of his book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the Duke and Duchess of York, Lownie says the former prince was rebuked after he abused his pet labrador.
The shooting party had gathered for a mid-morning break where soup and sausage rolls were being served when things took an awkward turn.
“Suddenly the dog leapt and snatched the guest’s sausage roll from his hand, causing him to laugh.”
But Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was not amused, instead, Lownie claims he “kicked his dog in the head, leaving her whimpering on the ground”.
The guest who told Lownie of the incident said that he admonished the former prince, saying “That is the most disgusting thing that you have just done to your beautiful dog. You should be ashamed of yourself!”
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor responded by swearing at the guest, saying “It is none of your business and I will do precisely what I want to MY dogs.”
