Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is going to extreme lengths to keep ties within the Royal Family, it has been claimed. He is using his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie to act as ‘royal spies’, experts have said.
Royal biographer, Ingrid Seward, said: “I was fascinated by Beatrice and Eugenie going to Sandringham because we were led to believe that both of them were going to stay away from Royal Lodge, they were going to stay away from Sandringham to avoid being seen like they’re taking sides.”
Ms Seward added: “But I don’t think Beatrice and Eugenie had a choice. Andrew said to them, ‘You have to go’ because he wants to keep a foot in. A, he wants to know what’s going on. B, he’d want to know what people were saying about him.”

The royal expert added that Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has always claimed “the girls are my passport”. She added: “They are Andrew’s only passport into the Royal Family now. And I’m absolutely sure that he persuaded them.”
Speaking on the podcast, royal commentator Charlie Ray said: “So one of the first things that would have happened when they got back would be Andrew would be on the phone saying, right, ‘who said what?'”
The former Prince, 65, was exiled and stripped of his titles by King Charles, over his links to the late convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. He has always vehemently denied all allegations against him.
Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, were not invited to join the royals on Christmas Day at Sandringham in 2025, amid the scandal of his titles being stripped after further details emerged about his links to Epstein.
Beatrice and Eugenie’s appearance in Sandringham came as a surprise, following speculation that they would skip the family gathering. The sisters’ decision to join the Sandringham walk signalled strong alignment with the wider Royal Family.
In October, King Charles, 77, took the unprecedented step of stripping Andrew’s princely style, titles and honours amid a resurgence of interest in Andrew’s links to the late, disgraced Epstein.
In January 2022, Queen Elizabeth stripped her second son of his military titles and patronages after a judge rejected his attempt to have Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre’s sexual assault lawsuit against him dismissed. Andrew then settled with Giuffre, who died by suicide in April last year, out of court for an undisclosed sum.
Despite this, the York sisters’ relationship with the wider family appears to be unaffected.
