Due to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, King Charles III forced the former Duke of York and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, out of their longtime mansion. However, when it was revealed that Mountbatten-Windsor paid “peppercorn” rent for the property, the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee launched an investigation into the terms of other royal properties owned by the Crown Estate.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward believes King Charles III put The Firm under new scrutiny over the bold decision. “The Crown Estate contains a huge number of properties, but most of us haven’t been aware of what exactly is out there and until now, few of us have cared to ask,” the commentator told The Times. “Now, that has changed, which means Andrew [Mountbatten-Windsor] has opened the door to a lot of problems for his family and the way they live.”

An anonymous former advisor to King Charles III warns that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s punishment could trigger drastic consequences. “Seeing what the King can do with a swish of his famously ill-functioning pen has emboldened critics who would like to shake up the whole royal system. They sense vulnerability,” they told Daily Mail‘s Editor at Large Richard Kay.

The investigation could also put other royals at risk.
Princess Alexandra, Queen Elizabeth II‘s 88-year-old cousin, reportedly pays $300 per month for her Crown Estate Grade II listed property, Thatched House Lodge, where she’s lived since 1963. However, Alexandra works with numerous charities on behalf of The Firm.
