The Real Housewives of New York underwent its first pause after a dismal Season 13. Bravo decided to take the blank slate approach and rebooted the show. By the end of RHONY Season 15, it was clear that the new series wasn’t working. Since then, Andy Cohen has been dealing with what to do with the franchise. And that includes asking a Today show fan-favorite, Sheinelle Jones, about joining the cast.
Thankfully, RHONY wasn’t canceled. It was just put on pause again. And now it sounds like there is finally some progress and momentum in the casting department.
Sheinelle Jones told Andy Cohen her phone is “blowing up” over RHONY rumors
Andy confirmed earlier this month that “a few” newbies have been selected, but that Bravo executives “haven’t rounded it out yet.” Meanwhile, RHONY alum Luann de Lesseps pushed the rumor mill into overdrive by teasing, “I think something’s cooking because there’s been a lot of talk about the OGs.”
So, when Andy was a guest on Today with Jenna and Friends, he played his iconic game, “Plead the Fifth,” with Sheinelle and Jenna Bush Hager. Andy plays the naughty game with guests on his show, Watch What Happens Live. Of course, Andy asked Sheinelle if she would consider joining RHONY. “Okay, well, this didn’t get to me. Would you ever?” he asked.
“My phone for the last 72 hours has been exploding,” Sheinelle said. “I can’t, no, stop looking at me,” she added as she covered her face. Finally, Sheinelle responded with a smile, “I plead the Fifth.”
Jenna responded, “You can’t leave us like that!” However, Andy seemed delighted. “Yes, she can! It’s the game. And she left the door open!”
As you may know, the mom of three returned to Today in September after an extended leave. Her beloved husband, Uche Ojeh passed away in May from an aggressive brain cancer.
The Real Housewives of New York is now streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
