While some members of the royal family want nothing to do with disgraced ex-Prince Andrew’s daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, others, like Princess Anne, are ready to support them during this difficult time.
RadarOnline recently reported that Anne is allegedly growing “increasingly frustrated” with what she considers the “unjust” treatment of Beatrice and Eugenie amid the fallout from Andrew’s close friendship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Sources with direct knowledge of the situation even claimed that Anne has become one of their most vocal defenders. “Anne’s view is that Beatrice and Eugenie have effectively become collateral damage in a situation that was never of their making,” one source told the outlet. “She believes they have carried themselves with remarkable grace through years of uncomfortable headlines and public scrutiny, yet continue to face consequences for controversies linked to other members of the family rather than anything they have personally done.”
The source added that, in Anne’s eyes, “there is a real sense of injustice about the way the sisters are being basically frozen out of the family now.”
Anne reportedly believes that, despite their parents’ controversy, Beatrice and Eugenie “have remained loyal to the institution, avoided creating problems, and worked hard to maintain their own reputations.” Still, they’re “finding doors quietly closing in front of them because of circumstances completely outside their control.”
“Anne is particularly troubled by what she sees as an effort to distance them from key royal occasions and public events,” they continued. “In her mind, they deserve understanding and support from their relatives, not to be pushed further to the margins. Anne has always been fiercely loyal to family members she believes are being treated unfairly, and this is no exception.”
Those close to Anne reportedly say that “she has no intention of staying silent,” especially if she thinks her nieces are being “unjustly sidelined” in royal circles. “Anne is not someone who backs down easily once she has decided a principle is at stake, and she is now essentially at war with many other royals over this,” the source said.
This comes amid claims that King Charles is considering evicting Beatrice and Eugenie from their “rent-free” houses.
“Beatrice and Eugenie know the clock is ticking,” a palace insider told gossip columnist Rob Shuter. “They don’t expect William to continue providing rent-free homes for family members who aren’t carrying out official duties.”
Reports suggest that Prince William wants these privileges to be reserved for working royals, with a source close to the family revealing, “His view is simple. Royal properties exist to support the institution. If you’re not working for the institution, it’s difficult to justify living in them rent-free.”
Beatrice and Eugenie are aware of Charles’ plans and are now preparing for their futures. “Everyone knows what’s coming,” a royal source stated. “When William is King, Beatrice and Eugenie will almost certainly be expected to pay their own way.”
However, the situation could change for Beatrice and Eugenie pretty soon. On June 9, RadarOnline reported that Charles has already ordered palace aides to review family members’ residence in royal properties.
“Senior royal officials have made it increasingly clear that the accommodation arrangements currently enjoyed by Beatrice and Eugenie are not viewed as a permanent entitlement,” a separate palace aide told RadarOnline. “The sisters were informed that, as part of a wider reassessment of how royal properties are allocated and utilized, they should begin exploring other options for when they need a base in London.”
They further explained, “There is a growing feeling within the household that palace residences need to be used in a way that better reflects the King’s long-term plans for the institution. Those involved insist this is not about punishing either princess or making a statement about their personal conduct. The decision is being framed internally as an administrative and operational matter linked to broader changes taking place across the royal estate. However, nobody is pretending the implications are insignificant.”
