Apple Martin is forging her own path in the entertainment industry, making her first major singing debut in Nashville earlier this week.
While most people know her dad, Chris Martin, as the singer in the family — after all, the seven-time Grammy winner been the frontman of Coldplay for decades — her mom Gwyneth Paltrow has also dabbled in music, singing in the film Country Strong and on Glee. But now? It’s Apple’s turn.
The 21-year-old Vanderbilt college student surprised fans while hopping on stage at Nashville’s Canary Hall to assist musical duo Jade Street on their song “Satellites.” (Per TMZ, the Coldplay rocker was in the audience as he proudly watched his daughter’s performance.)
In addition to her first major singing debut — she has also sang in front of audiences at two past benefit shows — Apple has already stepped into her own over the past few years.
After making her societal debut at the Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris last year, her star (and style!) has only continued to rise, with both fans — and the industry — paying close attention.
Most recently, Apple touched on her privileged upbringing with two mega-famous parents. (Her industry roots run deep: Her maternal grandmother, Blythe Danner, is a famous actress, while her late maternal grandfather, Bruce Paltrow, was a director and producer.)
“I know this is not a normal way to grow up by any means,” Apple told The Telegraph last week, noting that her mom and dad “did a really good job of instilling in me that I shouldn’t be entitled to anything. I have to work.”
And work she has — since she was a teenager, working in a clothing store and later as an intern at Interview magazine.
