The updates were revealed during the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where Apple outlined several changes aimed at improving the music streaming experience.
Among the most significant additions is the integration of Siri AI with Apple Music. The updated system will allow users to engage in more natural conversations with Siri, enabling them to request information about artists and then seamlessly move to playing songs without restarting the interaction.
Apple said the feature is designed to make music discovery and playback more intuitive by allowing users to combine information requests and playback commands within a single conversation.
The company is also expanding its AutoMix feature, which uses artificial intelligence to create transitions between songs. According to Apple, updated algorithms will improve the system’s ability to match tracks by tempo and musical key, resulting in smoother transitions between songs.
In addition to AI-related enhancements, Apple Music is set to receive several performance improvements. Apple said the service will offer faster loading times and improved streaming responsiveness. The company also indicated that reliability improvements are being introduced to reduce interruptions during playback, particularly under challenging network conditions, although it did not provide further details.
Apple is also broadening the availability of its Lyrics Translation and Lyrics Pronunciation tools.
Lyrics Translation will support seven additional language pairings, including English-to-French, English-to-German, English-to-Italian, English-to-Korean, English-to-Spanish, French-to-English and Japanese-to-English translations.
Meanwhile, Lyrics Pronunciation will be expanded to include Arabic-to-Romanised Arabic, English-to-Hangul, English-to-Katakana, Japanese-to-Hangul and Mandarin Chinese-to-Katakana.
The update will also introduce redesigned artist and album pages alongside other visual changes to the Apple Music interface.
Eddy Cue said the company was focused on enhancing user experiences across its services.
“We’re excited to bring powerful new features and intelligence to hundreds of millions of users across Apple services, making their experiences even more useful and fun,” Cue said.
The new features are currently available to developers through Apple’s testing programme. A public beta version is expected to be released next month through Apple’s beta software programme, ahead of a wider rollout later in the year.
