The Arrowverse creator’s comic series, Last Flight Out,is getting an adaptation with Apple TV+. The movie comes alongside a seven-figure deal in conjunction with the comic book publisher, Dark Horse. Penned by Marc Guggenheim and brought to life with Eduardo Ferigato’s brilliant illustrations alongside Marcelo Costa’s colors.
The description on the official Dark Horse website is as follows: “With Earth rendered uninhabitable, humanity has chosen to evacuate to the stars. But with just twenty-four hours left until the last ark,designed to evacuate Earth’s residents, leaves forever, its designer’s estranged daughter goes missing. Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, X-Men) and Eduardo Ferigato (Self/Made) tell the story of an absentee father trying to make amends with his daughter during the end of the world.”
The director in talks to direct is Sam Hargrave, who worked as a stunt coordinator for the MCU with Avengers: Endgame before directing Extraction 1 & 2. He’s also set to direct a live-action movie based on the Mattel toy line of Matchbox diecast cars.
Last Flight Out has the potential to provide an excellent addition to Apple TV+’s sci-fi library. For All Mankind, Invasion, and Foundation are full of groundbreaking visuals and well-written drama, making up a selection of series of intergalactic proportions with a consistency not typically found on other streaming services. Since Last Flight Out will be added to the streaming services’ other Sci-Fi films, like the Tom Hanks film Finch and Swan Song, which starred Mahershala Ali.
As for casting news, alongside a specific release date, nothing has been verified. Expect more news when the production company Chernin Entertainment.
