Aubrey O’Day is not faltering on her decision to attend the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s set of Los Angeles shows.
The Danity Kane member took to X to defend herself, again responding to a user who called her a “ f**kinghypocrite” for seeing Kanye West perform after allegedly being sexually assaulted by Diddy.
“In my case, I’m not just a listener. I’m someone whose career intersects with that body of work,” O’Day wrote. “That makes a blanket ‘cancel everything’ stance far less realistic than for people who aren’t artists. You’re not accounting for real-world complexity. The idea that you have to erase art to prove morality, or perform constant outrage to stay ‘consistent,’ isn’t integrity..it’s a simplified version of ethics.”
“I’m allowed to hold nuance,” she continued. “And for the record, I spoke the truth 20 years ago and remained consistent. Most people didn’t listen. I was judged, harassed, blacklisted, and had my opportunities shaped by that man in ways you’ll never fully understand. So no, I’m not outsourcing my values to a comment section anymore. I decide what I engage with, and why.”
