Aubrey Plaza confirmed her pregnancy in the most Aubrey Plaza way. Days after she was photographed showing off her baby bump on a day out in New York City, the My Old Ass star went on the Smartless podcast to address the exciting development.
“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” she told the co-hosts—Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett—who could not believe the news. “No, I said there is a baby inside of me right now,” she confirmed.
The Parks and Recreation alum is expecting her first child with fellow actor boyfriend Christopher Abbott. The two have known each other and been friends for years, having worked together both on the screen and on the theater stage. They began quietly dating last summer.
In the podcast, Plaza said that she actually got a checkup earlier in the day. “Today was a big day. I went to the doctor’s today, and my dog also went to the doctor’s. And both of us — my dog’s getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding,” she said. “She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach. And then I got an ultrasound on my stomach, and there is a baby in there.”
When asked if she is “excited” about becoming a mom, Plaza replied, “I am. Yeah. I’ve always wanted… I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about, you know? It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”
