JACKSON, Wyo. — The Murie Ranch Front Porch series is more than halfway over, and there are a variety of free events still to come in August.
Hosted by Teton Science Schools (TSS), the series includes educational discussions and musical performances connected to nature, conservation and the Murie legacy. All events run from 5:45 to 7 p.m.
Light refreshments are provided, and attendees are advised to bring rain gear and warm layers. Lawn chairs and blankets are optional. Parking at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitors Center is encouraged, as parking at the ranch is limited.

Monday, Aug. 11: Live music from Grand Teton Music Festival
A string quartet will perform a lively program for all ages. The performance will include music from different eras that is inspired by the summer sunshine.
Tuesday, Aug. 19: Murie Conversation – Astronomy
Join Sam Singer and Gary Shaw as they share insights about exoplanets and the earth’s intergalactic future. Attendees are encouraged to bring dinner and stay later for stargazing and information on local dark sky conservation.
Tuesday, Aug. 26: Murie Conversation and Live Music
Jamie Cornelius, a biology professor and musician, will use music and stories to share her findings from studies about wildfire smoke and its impact on songbirds. For two years, Cornelius has been chasing wildfire smoke to measure the health impacts on wild songbirds. Through storytelling and song, she will share her discoveries and discuss the implications of intensifying wildfire smoke for birds in North America.
