Robert Downey Jr. returns to the franchise in the role of Doctor Doom. The latest reports suggest that his Doctor Doom character will have multiple variants in Avengers: Doomsday. Insider James Mack has claimed that one of these variants will be female, aligning with the earlier rumors of a female Doom variant.
Mack has also claimed that one of the other variants of Doom will be a muscular character, resembling a masked Hulk. This variant could possibly fight the Hulk, if he returns to Doomsday after Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
