Bad Omens have released their new single ‘Impose’, alongside a dazzling music video directed by the band’s very own Noah Sebastion.
After teasing a new single on social media earlier this week, Bad Omens has finally dropped the new genre-blending track ‘Impose’ along with an accompanying music video.
Vocalist Noah Sebastian and Nico both directed the music video, which follows a couple slowly falling apart over the course of a single night. In a press release, the band would describe the video as “a disorienting romantic all-nighter after a chance encounter at a nightclub,” with its central characters being “a woman stuck in a cycle of fast living” and a “man merely a bystander to her unravelling”.
To match this starting nightclub location, the song itself begins with an atmospheric drum n’ bass rhythm. Eventually, the drum machine is replaced by Nick Folio’s acoustic kit, interpolating the same rhythm. Over time, the song slowly builds momentum, introducing guitars and the driving vocal chop sample, which moves to the forefront of the mix, now played on a synth. To match the building momentum of the song, the music video shows the woman slowly unravelling throughout the night. We love themes!

The video would end with what we saw in the teaser video earlier this week, with the same woman smoking a cigarette on a staircase, monologuing in what sounds like Slovenian.
Per fan translations in the comments, it begins: “When I fall asleep, I run away, but without you. You’re still in dreams, but not mine.”
‘Impose’ is the band’s second new non-collaborative single since their RIAA Gold-certified album The Death of Peace of Mind, which pushed Bad Omens to global prominence.
The 2022 record has amassed over 2.7 billion streams worldwide and includes the Platinum-certified number one Alternative Radio single ‘Just Pretend’, along with Gold singles ‘Like A Villain’ and ‘Death of Peace of Mind’.
While two singles are a good place to start speculating about new music, it may be too soon to speculate about an upcoming LP dropping this year. In the July 3rd episode of State the Scene’s podcast, which featured Sebastian, the singer shared that the album was not yet finished, and still needed more time.
So, while there’s still plenty to get excited about, it seems like the band needs a bit more time to cook up their fourth record.
