PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — For one night only, the Bagdad Theater on Hawthorne Boulevard will be showing Fight Club with special guest Chuck Palahniuk, who wrote the book.
The special 4K screen will be happening on Wednesday, April 22, with all admissions proceeds going to support the Hollywood Theatre and their future Film District.
In a statement, Christen Zatz-Gilman, deputy director of the Hollywood Theatre, thanked Chuck Palahniuk and the Bagdad Theater for hosting the event.

“We are deeply grateful to Chuck Palahniuk, Bagdad Theater and McMenamins staff for sharing our passion for Portland’s film heritage, and generously donating the admission proceeds above the cost of the movie ticket to benefit our future Film District,” Zatz-Gilman said.
The event will open with remarks from McMenamins historian Jon Smart and Hollywood Theatre representative and board member Adam Salazar to share the histories of both the Bagdad and Hollywood Theatres.
After the movie, there will be a Q&A with Palahniuk hosted by Eisner Award-winning comics writer and Hollywood Theatre board member Matt Fraction.
“As the historic Hollywood enters its second century of life, the new Film District promises to give a home to Portland’s entire film community too — a vibrant, exciting, only-in-Portland kind of place to watch film, talk film, learn its history, its production, and to celebrate art,” said Fraction. “With the landmark Hollywood Theatre serving as its anchor, the Hollywood Film District will ensure that the future of film in Portland looks incredible.”
Palahniuk also shared that film is an important storytelling form, and keeping places like the Hollywood Theatre intact is essential.
“Film is the dominant storytelling form of our time, and the movies aren’t going away. We must restore the Hollywood as a palace for presenting our most democratic form of art.”
Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased online.
The event will also feature Fight Club-inspired cocktails alongside classic concessions.
