Bard Owl will perform at Bar 580 in Brattleboro on Thursday, April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the West Townshend Store on Friday, April 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Bard Owl is Breeze Verdant and Annie Landenberger, a duo for nearly a decade. Verdant — on guitar, vocals, stompbox — has been described as a “folker with a rock and roll heart.” He used to belt out Little Richard and Elvis tunes while lying in bed when he was four years old, interspersing those with the military songs that he learned from his dad. He now loves playing any kind of music as long as it’s spirited.
Landenberger — vocals and percussion — has been singing since age 6 when she memorized and performed from an entire double album of Mitch Miller favorites for her parents’ dinner guests. Drawing on both classical and jazz voice training, she’s entertained in a range of styles over the years: classical, jazz, blues, folks, musical theatre.
Merging from different musical traditions, Bard Owl’s playlist is eclectic from rock and jazz-inspired, to blues and traditional. For more information: bardowlmusic.com, westtownshend.org; bar580.com.
