Could Baton Rouge Mayor Sid Edwards be the next big thing on the Baton Rouge comedy scene?
The audience will get a glimpse of his humorous side when Edwards guest-stars in the next edition of “Mid City Live!” at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, 233 St. Ferdinand St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
“Mid City Live!” is a comedy/variety show combining stand-up, skits and music.

The mayor will take part in the skits and a special musical number. He’ll be joined by local comedians Kenneth “Jestkinni” Austin, Stephanie Calero, Chris “Bird” Culotta, Marielle “Mighty” King, Gloria McConnell Passman, Will Merrill and Jay Thibodeaux.
The “Saturday Night Live”-inspired event was first performed in March 2023. Subsequent sold-out shows were presented at the Boomerang Comedy Theatre and Manship Theatre’s Hartley/Vey Theatre, as well as at Cité des Arts, Lafayette, and Library Riot, Lake Charles.

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and 225 Theatre Collective are collaborating on and will benefit from the proceeds of Friday’s event. The lineup will include original cast members, guest performers and a live DJ. It’s produced by Black Dress Productions, founded by Passman.
