Nicole Eggert has revealed that she has had a mastectomy following her cancer diagnosis in December 2023. The actress, best known for playing Summer Quinn in Baywatch, was diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma, a rare form of breast cancer. The 53-year-old experienced symptoms such as gaining 11kg in three months and suffering “terrible” pain in her breast, however, put it down to going through menopause.
Nicole previously underwent a single mastectomy and has now shared that she has undergone a second along with reconstruction surgery. Posing for a mirror selfie wearing a black crop top and white underwear, Nicole penned: “Had a mastectomy with reconstruction on Thursday. How was ur weekend? #breastcancer #breastcancerawarness #feelyourselfup @southcoastplasticsurgery.”
Last year, the Boy Meets World star opened up about her surgery prospects in an emotional video.
She began: “Hi. I just left a meeting my surgeons and the words they used were I ‘had a full, complete response [to her chemo]’.”
Overcome with tears of joy, she exclaimed, “What does that mean? My body responded completely to the chemo. There’s no detectable cancer in that area, and I have the green light to go ahead and schedule surgery.
Referring to her chemotherapy treatments, she cried out, “It worked. It worked. It worked! It worked. It worked, and now it’s taking care of this problem.”
She concluded: “What a way to end the week. It’s my daughter’s birthday, and I’m going to celebrate the heck out of her because she deserves it and has been such a trooper.”
Last year, Nicole expressed regret over her decision to get breast implants at the age of 18. Sharing her thoughts with PEOPLE, she voiced her remorse about the “stupid” decision she made when she was young.
She confessed: “It was a stupid 18 year old decision. I look at all these younger girls doing it and think, ‘God, leave your bodies alone!’
“But when you have to put on that one-piece and it’s like you’re so flat that it’s like pleating – you got pleats across the front… You’re like, ‘What is this?’ Nothing you can do. You can’t stuff it with anything. You can’t do anything.”
