Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are reportedly torn over whether to attend the Royal Family’s Christmas celebration. King Charles has invited the pair, but a source said they are on the fence after their disgraced father, Andrew, and Fergie were exiled.
Although both Beatrice and Eugenie remain loyal to the King, it is understood that the current situation surrounding their father has become an emotional nightmare for them. The shamed ex-Duke of York has now been stripped of his last remaining military title, with it being confirmed he has been demoted from Vice Admiral to Commander following a meeting of the Defence Council. The 65-year-old previously lost his Prince title due to links with paedophile trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
As reported by The Sun, the Princesses, who are equally devoted to their parents as they are the institution, now face a logistical and emotional decision ahead of Christmas.
A source told the Mail: “Unless she makes a decision to pick one side and one side only, she will spend a lot of time in the car. Overall, it falls to the princesses to soothe family divisions. They are struggling with Christmas.”
Senior members of the Royal Family are expected to attend church at St Mary Magdalene on Christmas morning, with the King keen for them to project unity over the period. However, Andrew has been discouraged from joining the family at Sandringham, leaving Beatrice and Eugenie with a tough choice to make.
It is believed that Beatrice feels obliged to be seen alongside the King and Queen at the Norfolk estate. However, she also reportedly feels compelled to spend what could be a final Christmas at Royal Lodge with Andrew.
Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie, who lives in Portugal with her young family, is said to be less torn by the drama. She is believed to be considering staying away altogether this Christmas.
Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have been served an eviction notice at Royal Lodge, causing further distress to the Princesses. They are reportedly preparing to move to a property on King Charles’s private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
