Legendary actress Diane Keaton has died at 79.
The news was first reported Saturday by People Magazine. The outlet said that Keaton died in California, and that further details about her cause of death were not available. People said that her family has asked for privacy.
News of Keaton’s death spread quickly across social media with many fans and stars remembering her.

Keaton’s rise to fame began five decades ago when she landed her role in “The Godfather” and she continued to gain fame through her film collaborations with Woody Allen. Keaton won an Oscar in 1977 for Best Actress for her work in “Annie Hall.”
As impressive as her early work was, Keaton was able to develop a following with fans of all ages for her work in the ‘Father of the Bride” films, with the final of those, “Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish)” — a 26-minute short — coming out in 2020.
She earned an Academy Award and two Golden Globes among many other honors across her career.
Keaton was born in Los Angeles in 1946. She began her acting career in 1966 and was active through 2024.
