LOS ANGELES, California — The first teaser trailer for “The Devil Wears Prada 2″ has officially dropped, nearly 20 years after the original film became a cultural hit.
Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reprise their iconic roles as Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs, with the sequel set to hit theaters next year.
The 51-second teaser, released by 20th Century Studios, opens with Miranda walking through halls in red studded stilettos, set to Madonna’s “Vogue.” Just as the elevator doors begin to close, Andy steps in, prompting Miranda’s icy greeting: “Took you long enough.”
The sequel reunites Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci in their original roles, returning to the high-stakes world of Runway magazine nearly two decades after the first film’s release.
Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the film also introduces a new ensemble cast including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu and B.J. Novak. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman reprise their roles from the 2006 hit. The movie is produced by Wendy Finerman and executive produced by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and McKenna.
What is the film’s plot?
While plot details remain under wraps, Variety said early reports suggest Miranda will face off against Emily, now a powerful executive at a luxury conglomerate, as she navigates the decline of traditional print media.
When is “The Devil Wears Prada 2″ scheduled for release?
The sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1st of next year.
