While his former castmates continue to publicly grapple with their fractured relationships, Ben Savage appears focused on a different chapter of his life.
Days after fresh revelations about the cast fallout surfaced in the documentary Doc Meets World, the former Boy Meets World star shared a rare glimpse into his personal life, posting photos with his 7-month-old daughter and wife, Tessa Angermeier, alongside a short but attention-grabbing caption: “Good company.”
The June 15 Instagram post arrived just days after several of Savage’s former co-stars once again addressed their estrangement. Will Friedle, who played Eric Matthews on the sitcom, recently said he hopes to someday speak with Savage “to his face” about the actor’s decision to distance himself from the people who knew him for decades. Danielle Fishel, who portrayed Topanga Lawrence, similarly said it would be “good” to have an in-person conversation with her longtime co-star.
Savage, 45, rose to fame as Cory Matthews during Boy Meets World‘s seven-season run from 1993 to 2000. He later reunited with much of the cast for Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, which ended in 2017.
In recent years, however, the actor has largely stepped away from Hollywood, pursuing a career in politics and launching unsuccessful campaigns for West Hollywood City Council and California’s 30th Congressional District.
A political science graduate of Stanford University, Savage has increasingly kept a low public profile while embracing family life.
The cast divide has become a central theme of Doc Meets World, which premiered earlier this month at the Tribeca Film Festival. In the documentary, Rider Strong claims that communication with Savage changed around the launch of the Pod Meets World podcast.
“Ben refused to do the podcast, but we still communicated with him, [were] still on friendly terms, we thought,” Strong says. “He unfollowed us on Instagram and blocked our phone numbers. I feel sorry that he’s missing out on the experience that Danielle and Will and I are having.”
Friedle has perhaps been the most vocal about the split. In earlier interviews, he insisted there was no dramatic falling out. “We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity,” he previously said.
The actor even revealed that he once texted Savage, “I’m going to call you EVERY DAY until you pick up or tell me to stop,” after years of unanswered messages. According to the documentary, Savage’s last response to Friedle dates back to 2020.
