Best February Events in Utah: Skating, Skiing, Music, and Festivals

Public Ice Skating

Ice skating is available at Millcreek Common, 1354 Chambers Ave., Millcreek, from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm. Reservations can be made online. 

Gallivan Center, 70 E 200 S from 12 pm to 10 pm on Sundays, 4 pm to 10 pm Monday through Thursday, and 12 pm to 12 am Saturday and Sunday. 

Utah Olympic Oval, 5662 Cougar Lane, Kearns, with times daily excluding Sundays. For a schedule of times, visit here.

Ski with a Ranger

In partnership with the US Forest Service, the Ski with a Ranger program is based at Alta, Snowbird, Brighton and Solitude resorts.

Participants join Volunteer Naturalist Rangers on the ski slopes to learn about the Cottonwood Canyons’ geology, history, winter ecology, watershed, wildlife, and more. These free, guided tours frequent only easy or intermediate ski runs and last approximately 45 minutes. A lift ticket or pass at the respective ski area is required.

The Tour season runs from January through March. Tours are offered at 1 pm on Thursdays at Brighton Resort, Alta Ski Area, and Solitude Mountain Resort. Tours are offered at 1 pm on Saturdays at Snowbird Resort. Meeting locations are as follows: Snowbird Resort, outside of Creekside patio; Alta Ski Area, top of Sunnyside Lift; Solitude Mountain Resort, top of Moonbeam Lift; Brighton Resort, bottom of Snake Creek Lift.

February 11

Westminster Chamber Orchestra Valentine’s Concert. Presented by Westminster Performing Art at Vieve Gore Concert Hall in the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory at Westminster College. Director David Langr will present an evening of pieces including Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, Jennifer Higdon’s blue cathedral, and more. General admission is $15. 

February 12

Galentine’s Day Book Bedazzling & Book Basket Swap. Presented by Flowerstone Frame and Art Studio, 2478 W 12600 S Suite 3, Riverton. 

Bring a favorite book and a basket containing items that relate to the book. Everyone will get a chance to talk about their book, followed by a white elephant exchange with the books and baskets. Also on hand will be book bedazzling. Supplies and instruction will be provided. The event starts at 7pm.

February 13-14

Valentine Dinner Dance at Thanksgiving Point. Enjoy an evening of live music and live entertainment by the local band, The Salamanders. A three-course meal before the dance will be served. Photos will be available. Tickets are available here for $90 per person. Tickets sell out quickly. Held at the Show Barn at Thanksgiving Point from 6 pm to 10 pm. 

February 13 – 15

Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour 2026. Presented by Peery’s Egyptian Theater at Perry’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd., Ogden. The Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival is one of the largest mountain festivals in the world. The tour will include 600 stops in more than 40 countries. Reserved tickets are $28.50 for adults and can be purchased at their website.  

February 17

Mardi Gras Crawfish Boil. Presented by Brighton Ski Resort at Brighton Ski Resort. Enjoy Mardi Gras at the Milly Chalet with a $30 all-you-can-eat crawfish boil and live music. Plates are first come, first served. Sides and beverages are available for an additional cost.

February 17-18

IFSA Freeride World Qualifier. Presented by Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. Spectators are welcome to watch local Snowbird skiers and snowboarders, along with athletes from across the country compete. Events as conditions permit. 

February 20

Small Stage Series: Storytelling by Karl Behling and Jeff Driggs. Presented by the Davis Arts Council at Abbington Senior Living, 350 S 100 W, Layton. Behling is a retired educator and performance artist. He is associated with the Utah Storytelling Guild. He produces storytelling events for Weber State, schools, libraries, and more. Driggs is from Oregon and has been in theatre for many years. He began storytelling in 2022, is a development officer at Westminster, and serves on the SLC Arts Council. 

February 21

2026 Utah STEM Expo. Presented by Beehive Science and Technology Academy at Mountain America Expo Center, 9575 S State Street, Sandy. This is a free family-friendly activity that includes STEM demonstrations from students and adults. Held from 11 am to 2 pm

February 21-27

Moab Music Festival – Winterlude.The award-winning Moab Music Festival is known for performances of chamber music, jazz, and Latin music. For more information and a lineup go to moabmusicfest.org. 

February 25

The Buffalo Soldier Heritage Trail Lecture by Ian Wright. Presented by Park City Historical Society and Museum at Park City Museum Education and Collections Center, 2079 Sidewinder Drive, Park City. Held from 5-6 pm. Learn about the history of Buffalo Soldier and their connection to Utah’s cultural heritage. Ian Wright is Utah’s Public Archaeologist with the State Historic Preservation Office. This is a free event.
