Blake Lively Makes $161 Million Damages Claim As Justin Baldoni’s Case Crumbles

The “It Ends With Us” drama continues, with newly unsealed legal documents from July revealing Blake Lively‘s shocking damages claim.

The actress has been making headlines for nearly a year since accusing her former co-star, Justin Baldoni, of sexual misconduct and other crimes. The pair had worked together on the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel, detailing an abusive relationship.

Their fictional roles seemingly came to life, with Blake Lively accusing Justin Baldoni of harassment, a toxic workplace environment, and running a smear campaign against her that allegedly cost her millions in damages.

The disclosure Lively’s team provided to Baldoni’s corner in July became public knowledge on Wednesday, November 5, after the legal documents were unsealed. In the documents, the actress’s attorneys claimed she suffered $161 million in damages.

According to Lively’s legal reps, she lost at least $56.2 million in past and future earnings from business ventures such as acting, producing, speaking engagements, and endorsements. They argued that she lost the massive sum due to the alleged smear campaign Baldoni launched against her.

The damages claims continued, with Variety reporting that Lively’s attorneys alleged that her beauty brand and beverage company, Blake Brown and Betty Buzz/Betty Booze, lost $49 million and $22 million, respectively, because the alleged smear campaign had ruined her image and reputation.

Lively’s attorneys claim she lost at least $161 million in actual damages, including $34 million in reputational harm due to the 65 million negative comments about her on social media. They pushed for compensation, asking for at least three times the sum of her alleged losses in punitive damages.

However, the disclosure noted that her highlighted damages figure was preliminary and subject to proof by an expert testimony at trial.

Lively is expected to face off with Baldoni in court next March after filing a harassment lawsuit against him, producer Jamey Heath, studio head Steve Sarowitz, and their publicists.

Lively dropped her accusations against the group on December 31, 2024, noting that they launched a smear campaign against her because of her harassment claims. At the time, the TV personality’s attorneys stated that she had lost over $75,000 in damages from the alleged retaliation scheme.

More Celebrities Have Been Dragged Into The Legal Drama

Besides claiming that Lively lost at least $161 million in damages, the disclosure also included a long list of celebrities who might have relevant information about her allegations. Naturally, the top name on the list was Taylor Swift, who has repeatedly been dragged into the legal drama.

The “Bad Blood” singer and Lively were once highly publicized for their friendship, which ultimately ended during the legal ordeal with Baldoni. The latter desperately tried and failed to depose Swift in the case, who made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with the drama.

According to the disclosure, Swift wasn’t the only celebrity Lively believed could be a potential witness. The list included several powerful forces in the entertainment industry, such as Gigi Hadid, Emily Blunt, Hugh Jackman, Scooter Braun, Sony Pictures chairman Tony Vinciquerra, and Sony film chief Tom Rothman.

Justin Baldoni Loses His $400 Million Defamation Lawsuit

Following Lively’s allegations, Baldoni fired back with a $400 million defamation lawsuit. He argued that he lost the massive sum due to her false claims, but his defence did not fly in court. A judge dismissed the lawsuit in June, giving the actor a chance to amend his allegations.

Unfortunately, Baldoni and his legal team missed their only chance to amend their claims against Lively. The Blast reported that U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Liman had warned all parties that he would enter a final judgment, but only Lively had responded.

The actress implored the judge to declare the case officially closed, which he eventually did on October 31, after Baldoni failed to meet the appeal time frame. Lively’s victory streak continued, with the judge accepting her request to pursue Baldoni for her legal fees.

Blake Lively Pushes For The Release Of A Pornographic Video

Before the newly unsealed disclosure was publicized, The Blast shared that Lively’s legal team had gone after producer Jamey Heath over an alleged pornographic video. They accused him of refusing to release the whole clip despite the court’s order.

Heath was dragged into the lawsuit after Lively accused him of showing her and her assistant a home birthing video of his wife without their consent. She alleged that the clip captured the producer’s wife fully naked, immediately making her think she was watching “porn.”

Lively claimed the incident made her feel extremely uncomfortable, and she asked if Heath’s wife was aware of his actions, to which he implied she wouldn’t mind. The actress’s attorneys noted the producer needed to release the whole video as it would prove her claims.
